Who is responsible

Steve: Caddie (“Steve”) is your caddie on the course. The controller is the Steve team, at steve-caddie.com. For privacy and account deletion, email privacy@steve-caddie.com.

Account data

You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email. We do not store a password. Depending on what you fill in, we keep your name, handicap, gender, city, country, profile photo, bag, and club distances.

Location

Steve uses precise and approximate location only during a live round, in the foreground and in the background. It places you on the hole, calculates distances, saves shots with the phone in your pocket, and keeps the round going if you lock the screen. You will see the notification “Steve is tracking your round”. Collection starts when the round starts and stops when the round ends. We do not use it for advertising or to follow you outside a round.

Camera, motion, microphone, and contacts

• Camera: on the green only, to draw the break and the aim line of your putt. We do not record video.
• Motion and activity recognition: during a round, to tell whether the phone is in your pocket and confirm a shot. Steve is not a health app. We do not show steps or medical data, and we do not share them with health apps.
• Microphone: if you dictate a question to your caddie or a comment. The audio is used to transcribe that request.
• Contacts: if you allow it, to see who in your address book already uses Steve and to invite the rest. We do not use the address book for advertising.

Rounds and how you use the app

We store courses, rounds, scorecards, shots, hole plans, and, when you play with others, your place in the live round. That data powers your caddie on the course, your history, and what you share with the people you play with.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal data. We use processors that run the service: account and round hosting (Supabase), maps (Mapbox), elevation and Google services on Android, weather (Meteoblue), and notifications (Firebase). They only receive what that function needs.

Retention and your rights

We keep data while the account is active. You can ask for access, correction, restriction, objection, or portability, and you can turn a system permission off in your phone settings. If you are in the European Economic Area, you can also complain to your data protection authority.

Delete your account and the data tied to it

Children

Steve is not directed at anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us data, email us and we will delete it.
